Macherla Niyojakavargam Movie Review

Macherla Niyojakavargam is a film that Nithiin has banked heavily on. This is his first mass entertainer which has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :

Siddhu(Nithiin) is an IAS officer who is waiting for his posting in AP. In the meantime, he falls in love with Swathi(Krithi Shetty) who hails from Macherla and has issues with Rajappa(Samuthirakani). Things get heated up when Siddhu gets posted in Macherla. What is Swathi’s connection with Rajappa? How did Siddhu get involved and solve the issue? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

Nithiin gets a makeover from romantic dramas and tries an out and out mass film for the first time. He looks good and handles the mass scenes with a lot of confidence. His body language and dialogue delivery suit the mood of the film. Catherine Tresa is neat in her supporting role but does not get to showcase much.

Vennela Kishore is good with his comedy role and takes a major part in the first half. His ego based character looks good but is over done in a few areas. Rajendra Prasad and Murali Sharma are just about okay in their roles. Anjali sizzles in a special song which is a crowd pleaser.

Krithi Shetty gets a good role and does well in the best of her limitations. The main villain is played by Samuthirakani and he is effective as the bad guy. The mass fights have been designed well especially the Jatara sequence is quite good.

Minus Points :

The first half is filled with comedy which is good but it is dragged for no reason. There is no story unveiled during this time as the director tries to fill up the scenes with comedy and songs.

The second half is where things go heavily wrong for this film. Once the film shifts to Macherla, the routine cat and mouse game begins and starts to bore the audience. Scenes are predictable and have no novelty at all.

The conflict is straight forward and there are no twists and turns. Nithiin as an IAS officer goes overboard in many areas which looks a bit over the top. The screenplay has nothing new to showcase and despite the mass moments, the film fails to entertain.

Technical Aspects :

Production values of the film are pretty good. The Vizag visuals and the mass moments have been showcased quite well. One of the major highlights of the film is the music and BGM by Mahati Sagar. His BGM in all the fights was superb. Editing is decent and so were the dialogues.

Coming to the director SR Sekhar, he has done a below par job with the film. He has taken a very routine story and narrated it in an even routine manner. There is no freshness in his script but he has showcased Nithiin quite well. Though he has given the masses some time pass stuff, his overall work is dissatisfactory.

Verdict :

On the whole, Macherla Niyojakavargam is a routine and outdated action drama with a select few mass moments. The fights and songs are good but the rest of the narration is routine and bores the audience making this film a disappointing watch this weekend.
